Illegal parkers immune to wrecker
THE EDITOR: To the Minister of National Security, Commissioner of Police and Mayor of Port-of-Spain. I see ads have been placed in the newspaper about your crackdown on illegal parking. Please explain to the public why the group of people who park in the wrong spots all the time are not wrecked. I have seen on Richmond Street five Ministry of Works cars parked on the wrong side yet the wrecker passed them even though they were blocking the free flow of traffic and wrecked the sixth vehicle. Why? Mayor, I have also observed in front Grey Friars Church were there is a bus stop sign, vehicles belonging to City Hall parked illegally; please do something about that.
Commissioner of Police, what about the area in front of your headquarters, in front of the Nelson Exchange. There are two signs which state no parking or waiting but that area is always full of parked cars which will not be wrecked. Are they above the law? Minister of National Security, what are you all going to do about the way vehicles that belong to ministries and other government offices can break the law and nothing is done. If you have observed they cause the most of the traffic problems in Port of Spain. Are you all being fair to the public?
