RBTT $300,000 for Intercol
RBTT BANK has injected $300,000 into this year’s Intercol series. The Intercol was launched at the RBTT Corporate Box, Queen’s Park Oval, yesterday, with Robert De Silva, general manager personal and commercial banking, pointing out to the 35 participing schools, “they hold a certain responsibility to demonstrate their passion for the event in a peaceable, exemplary manner which the rest of society will do well to emulate.” Among those in attendance were Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) president Oliver Camps; Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) president Ewing Davis; RBTT general manager of group marketing and communications Michael Callender; RBTT promotions officer Don La Foucade; Howard Spencer, Physical Education and Sports Officer I, Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and Ken Butcher, project implementation manager in the Sports Ministry.
Also at yesterday’s launch were members of the St Anthony’s and Malick teams, the respective 2002 and 2003 boys’ and girls’ champions. Continuing his address, De Silva stated: “Because sport is an essential element in the pursuit of personal growth and sustainable development, Intercol presents an ideal opportunity for RBTT in terms of influencing our youth as we try to make a positive difference in society.” In their sixth year of sponsorship the bank “applauds the SSFL for providing students with this avenue to excel, while creating an environment for personal growth.” Schools can also reap rewards for their support of their various teams, with $1,500 apiece for the most original flag, the most original chant, the most original instrument, the best cheerleading routine and the best supporter turnout.
