Invincibility flashes speed over 1000m

INVINCIBILITY stole the show on the gallops course at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday morning when trainers exposed their runners with untapped talent in full glare of early railbirds. The fopur-year-old American-bred colt who has been enjoying a good season, showed that he has not lost any of his speed by breezing the last 1000 metres of the main course in the impressive time of 1:00.85 seconds. Owned by Junior Sammy and now conditioned by Jack Debideen, Invincibility looked in immaculate condition and went through his paces under jockey Ricardo Jadoo with an authority which makes him a force with to be reckoned with whenever he makes his next appearance. Fantastic Story also looked well, returning after a short rest, and this one from the Grant Lourenco barn who failed by a neck to peg back Miss Lover Lover in the Sagicor Independence Cup Trophy, went smoothly over the same 1000 metres trip in 1:02.09 seconds. Kavita Nadira posted some fast early clips and although she was found wanting at the end of her spin, still managed to clock 1:02.23 seconds to earn a “good” in the remarks column of the Arima Race Club official clockers report.

Bold As Brass is a name turfites must keep on their short list. The Glenn Mendez-trained unraced juvenile maintained steady pace of under 12 seconds to the furlong, and created a good impression over 600 metres in his first open gallop. The son of Solid Claim was timed in  34.28 seconds for the gallop, which proved best for the distance on the morning. Crown Point, Quatro Tempo and Lord Arazi, all from the Mendez barn, also showed their well-being. Schooling from the boxes the locally-bred trio expected to face their baptism of fire on Saturday’s Betting Levy Board-sponsored card, sped between the 1200 and 600-metres markers in 36.13 seconds. Also showing good speed from the gates was a bay son of Mossy Creek. The strapping bay showed off his wares between the same markers in 35.38 seconds. Others to flash their speed on the morning were Salsa Moves, Travel Agent, and Renaissance Man over 400 metres, Isle Be True, Priceless Fame and Ms Independent over 600 metres, Life In The Sky, Lit D’Amour and Top Of The Class, and Bon Voyage and Naturelly Classy over 800 metres, and Senor Gucci over 1200 metres.
