Time to end cable monopoly
THE EDITOR: I would like to lend my voice to the chorus of disenchanted CCTT viewers. I will not even include the Olympic fiasco when I say that our cable network has shortchanged the public much like TSTT. From the inception of CCTT we have received at least 65 stations, which was an advertising boost for the station. What changed? I feel that it now offers less stations or worse no stations in order to make more money. We pay the same amount per month whether we get 65 stations or less.
Due to the fact that it is a monopoly it presents what it wishes and when you call, staff members are either unknowledgeable or outright arrogant. We never had this problem when we had three cable providers in the country. Big is not always better. Most people were pleased with their particular cable company. I hope that in the near future the Telecommunications Authority will allow other cable companies to offer their services to TT. As with TSTT, this change will mean more choices and better cable service for the paying public. Finally, we could well do without channels: 97, 15, 13, 16, 37, 41, 31, 49, 19, 61, 60, 54, 95, 29, 52, 65, 27, 66, 28 and 55. Give us back CNN, ESPN, ODSY and AM.
