Cash Wager shows BLB value

Cash Wager has not had much racing under his belt this season but has begun to show his good qualities on the exercise course as he prepares for his return on the Betting Levy Board-sponsored card at Santa Rosa Park, Arima tomorrow. The American bred six-year-old which captured the Stewards Cup in 2002, has raced sparingly since, putting in only two appearances last year and one earlier this season. But the John O’Brien trainee, who is being prepared for another crack at the prestigious spring in December 11, showed that he has not lost his appetite for the game by quickening over the last 400 metres of his spin in 24.47 seconds on Wednesday. Arts And Lovers, who is expected to share favouritism with Luann’s Passion in the Betting Levy Board Juvenile Sprint went at a handy clip over the same ground in 25.85 seconds.

Also seen out on the same morning taking things easy was French Academy. The daughter of Louis Quatorze/Hermosa who acted up in the paddock and gave a dismal performance in last month’s Royal Oak Derby had a comfortable spin over 600 metres in 40.06 seconds. Entertainer seems to be enjoying himself of late. The seven-year-old carried top coat and as he looked he carried himself under leading jockey Brian Harding, drilling the same ground in 40.02 seconds. Melanie My Love, who will go after the spoils in the John Derek Cozier Memorial Turf Classic matched strides with Joint Venture over the strip in 39.02 seconds. Saucy Wow showed that she has a bit of class. The Rohit Dube-trained three-year-old chestnut breezed the identical trip in 36.52 seconds, which was only bettered by the 36.14 seconds posting of Flying Eagle.
