More social workers needed

THE EDITOR: Please permit me the space to reply on the story written about the woman who abandoned her baby, titled, “Woman sent to St Ann’s for abandoning child” (Gloria John). I normally would buy a Newsday, because of the fact  reading stories that of would bring tears to the eye, my eyes. (Not that I like to cry, but of the realities of the picture) Lets talk about this story in particular. “The abandonment of the child”.  Ms Gloria John did a bad thing, but has anyone taken the time to ask her, “What went wrong?” Or perhaps, what has, or, what is the Government doing for the old and young people in our society today? We need to have more social workers in our sweet island quoted and known as “sweet TT.”

Anyway, I just wanted to say it takes a lot of courage and love from within for anyone to take a baby or child or an adult for that matter, into their home and care for it as if it’s your own, (if that’s the purpose of). What the Government should do is, have a social worker assigned to the matter, if the child is adopted; this way the public can and will always be updated on the matter (which includes myself). Ms Samantie Ali, if you are doing this from the bottom of your “heart,” I am supporting you all the way. You are indeed a true hero in my eyes. May God keep and bless you in your future endeavours.
