Senate debates Family Proceedings Bill
ATTORNEY GENERAL John Jeremie will begin debate on the Family Proceedings (Amen-dment) Bill 2004 when the Senate meets on Tuesday at 1.30 pm. The purpose of this Bill is to amend Section Five of the Act “to empower the superior and inferior courts of record to refer parties to any family proceedings, to mediation, or to the unit responsible for social services in the court, or to some other professional, without the consent of the parties.”
Health Minister John Rahael could then begin debate on amendments to the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Act, once the Upper House concludes debate on the Family Proceedings Bill. Senate Opposition Leader Wade Mark will ask Public Utilities Minister Pennelope Beckles whether Government has a plan to privatise or divest the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) to any foreign interest within the next three years. Mark will also ask Works and Transport Minister Franklin Khan about Government’s plans to convert the Maintenance Training and Security (MTS) workforce “into CEPEP-type operations.”
