Williams tweets about ‘poetic justice’
Dick lost momentum during her routine and had to stop before completing which drew a big penalty from the judges.
Williams’ tweet was later deleted while persons online speculated on who or what it was directed at.
Williams has filed a lawsuit against the TT Gymnastics Federation (TT GF) over her removal as TT ’s participant for the Olympic Test Event at Rio in April. Marisa Dick was chosen as her replacement and the Canadian-born gymnast subsequently qualified for the current Games.
Dick made her Olympic debut yesterday, in the artistic gymnastics category, but she had a disappointing showing in the uneven bars, returning a score of 11.333, the lowest among the 14 entrants.
Williams had qualified for the Test Event at the expense of Dick at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
But, on April 16, on the eve of her final qualifier in Rio, the TT GF withdrew Williams after they claimed the 20-yearold was not fully recovered from an ankle injury - and they used an email from her coach John Geddert to justify their decision.
Williams, through her attorney Keith Scotland, recently sued the TT GF, including its president David Marquez and three other officials, for TT $11.3 million, exclusive of legal costs for damages arisen from their controversial decision.
On social media yesterday, there were a number of debates over the merit of Dick competing at Rio, with persons openly stating that they were not supporting her while others opined that she was representing the twin-island republic therefore she had their support.
