Newsday was told that a social media platform was used by the missing girl to arrange a secret meeting between herself and the male companion — who is also a minor — which led parents to believe that she had gone missing. The teen was last seen on Monday, at about 8.15 am when she left her parttime job at a Daycare Centre.
Relatives filed a missing person report after the teen failed to return home.
Officers of the Anti- Kidnapping Unit including Sgt Narcis and Cpl Hernandez, spent the following two days searching for the teenager.
Information received from the teen’s mother and from her Facebook account, led officers to a house in La Horquetta, where the two teenagers were ‘shacked up’.
Officers of the Anti- Kidnapping Unit took the minors to the Maloney police station and their parents were informed of their whereabouts.
Newsday understands that they were, up to press time, being interviewed by officers of the Child Protection Unit.
