TT cricketers brought us glory

THE EDITOR: Congrats to the Trinidad and Tobago senior cricket team on a truly remarkable performance in the recently concluded regional one-day tournament. Not given much of a chance by all the pundits, especially without many of their experienced stars (Lara, Bravo, Dillon, Simmons, Mohammed and Rampaul), Darren Ganga and his youthful, unified outfit brought glory to TT. One must take one’s hat off to the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board, Alloy Lequay and Ellis Lewis, as it seems that finally all the hard work in preparing Trinidad and Tobago teams is beginning to produce positive results. The benefit of having the Sir Frank Worrell Cricket Academy is evident in the performances in Guyana and Barbados.

This current team, although on paper not the strongest team in the tournament, looked like the best prepared, pulling off many thrilling victories from difficult situations, showing lots of character. They looked sharp in the field, solid in their batting and bowling.  If this is a sign of things to come, we can expect many more trophies in the coming years. Special accolades should go out to Sherwin Ganga, Dinesh Ramdin and Richard Kelly who all had wonderful tournaments and look very promising for the future.
