C-DAP at government dispensaries?

THE EDITOR: I note that much needed information about the C-DAP Programme, the availability of drugs “Free of Charge” for specified ailments and on the prescription of a doctor, was published in the press. A list of the drug stores at which these “free drugs” may be obtained was included, but no mention was made of the dispensaries at health offices and the hospital dispensaries where such drugs are also available. These are the most convenient sources from which to obtain their supply of drugs, especially by the poor and elderly who regularly seek attention at these various health offices and clinics both in Trinidad and Tobago. Is it the intention of the government that these much needed drugs will no longer be available at government dispensaries as at present?

I do not believe that this is the intention and I am therefore suggesting that this omission, which I believe to have been accidental, be immediately corrected by the Ministry of Health through an appropriately worded advertisement in all the news media including the daily newspapers, radio and television. I would be an act of “good public service” if you should give this letter some prominence in your newspaper.
Thanking you in advance.
