World riddled with sin, murder victim’s preacher declares

“We see around us in this world, the sorrow, injustice, heartache, tears and even death itself.

All of these things that permeate life on earth, they have one common root cause--- sin. No one knows that better than God Himself,” preached Brother Andrew Ussher .

Ussher made the comments during the funeral service of Quamina, a supervisor at the Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB), whose throat was slit on Friday while staying at a friend’s home at Edinburgh South, Chaguanas.

Hundreds of mourners flocked to the Orange Field Road Gospel Hall Church located at Chase Village, Chaguanas, to bid farewell to Quamina yesterday.

Addressing a packed congregation, David charged the Bible has answers and that God wants a world which is free from sin.

Ussher said: “He wants a place where righteousness can dwell, he wants to fellowship with men and women with no barriers in-between and so today he is in the business of saving souls.

I appeal to anyone who does not know the Lord Jesus Christ, do not run from him.

Don’t turn in anger to God and turn away from his offer salvation.” Recalling fond memories which he shared with Quamina, who lived at Mahaica Street, Waterloo Road, Carapichaima, Ussher described her as an adventurous and courageous person.

“She was a complicated person. But at her core Apphie was a girl with a tender heart, with a deep-thinking mind. As you got to know Apphie, you understood some of real questions that she struggled with during her life. She was courageous, a fighter in many ways. I saw that expressed in her relationship with me. She worked very hard to get a job,” Ussher said.

Police reports are on Friday night, Quamina was doing laundry when a masked and armed male intruder stormed into the house of her co-worker, Josanne Allen and Allen’s boyfriend, Christopher Heerah.

The intruder struck Heerah with his gun and ordered that he tie Quamina and Allen with duct tape. The intruder was enquiring about the whereabouts of Allen’s brother and according to reports proceeded to beat Heerah until he collapsed into an unconscious state.

It was only when the gunman left the house, Quamina’s body was found in the bedroom.

Yesterday at the funeral service, another religious leader, Brother Leroy David, called on the killers to give their lives to the Lord saying that Jesus loves them even if they might be wicked persons.

“No matter if you committed murder, come and give your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. Not only in this country alone, the whole world needs Jesus.

Jesus is the answer to any sort of crime,” David told mourners.
