NLCB: Business good for Lotto vendors
Although Lotto sales have not been record breaking, and the $10 million jackpot is not the highest Lotto Plus jackpot seen, sales continue to be quite good for Lotto vendors. In Port-of-Spain yesterday, there were long lines at Lotto machines, as players waited patiently to place their bets. While Lotto vendors refused to speak to Newsday on the progress of sales, one source at the National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB), said that “business was good” for Lotto vendors.
The source added that from all indications, the sales were a record for this year. It was also disclosed that the NLCB anticipated that the jackpot would reach the $10 million mark by the time of the draw. The NLCB source said that Lotto jackpots are usually estimated, so the $10 million that everyone was playing for was just an estimate based on the sales NLCB predicted. Newsday, however, understands that the $10 million would have become a reality by the time all bets were closed.
