PNM completes screening

In a statement, PNM General Secretary Ashton Ford said the ruling party completed its screening on Thursday night at its Balisier House headquarters in Port-of-Spain. The PNM’s screening committee is chaired by Prime Minister and PNM political leader, Dr Keith Rowley.

Ford said candidates for the Couva/Tabaquite/ Talparo Regional Corporation and the Chaguanas Borough Corporation were screened. He also said the screening committee announced the names of the prospective candidates for the two seats that were on hold in the Diego Martin Regional Corporation (DMRC). He added that screening for the outstanding nominees will take place on September 22 at Balisier House. In the DMRC, Kathy Ann Christopher and Akeila Glasgow were selected for Covigne/Richplain and Chaguaramas/ Point Cumana.

Christopher is the incumbent councillor for Covigne/Richplain. No decision was taken regarding a candidate for Glencoe/Goodwood/ La Puerta.

In the Chaguanas Borough Corporation, incumbents Janelle Joe-Ryan, Ronald Heera and Lisa Holder were selected to recontest their respective districts of Edinburgh/ Longdenville, Enterprise South and Enterprise North/Esmeralda.

In the Couva/Tabaquite/ Talparo Regional Corporation, Christopher Supersad, Nanda Bowlah, Dinah Thurton, Aaron Mohammed, Deonarine Deyal, Beeram Rambaran, Charlene Monsegue, Jameel Sahadath and Alison Thomas were chosen as candidates for Balmain/ Calutta #2, Carlibay/ Calcutta #3/Mc Bean, California/Point Lisas, Claxton Bay/Point A Pierre, Perseverance/ Waterloo, Las Lomas/ San Raphael, Caparo/ Mamoral, Caratal/ Tortuga and Freeport/ Chickland respectively.

No decision has been made for candidates for the Piparo/ San Pedro/Tabaquite, Longdenville/Talparo, St Mary’s/Carslen, Brechin Castle/Esperanza and Gasparillo/ Bonne Aventure districts in this Corporation.
