Special sitting of Industrial Court

The sitting will take place at the Court’s premises on St Vincent Street. An address will be delivered by Deborah Thomas-Felix, President of the court. The event is due to begin at 10 am.

The Industrial Court was established on March 20th,1965 by section 5(1) of the Industrial Stabilisation Act. The principal role of the Court is to settle unresolved disputes and other matters which arise between employers and trade unions representing the workers employed by the employers under the Industrial Relations Act. In recent times, Thomas-Felix has sought to rebut claims that the court has a bias in favour of workers, citing statistics which show more balanced outcomes.
