Man granted $50,000 bail for sexual grooming
Neil Bissessar of Longdenville was also ordered to stay away from the 11-year-old victim before senior Magistrate Jo-anne Connor in the Chaguanas First Magistrate’s Court. Bissessar first appeared before Connor on Monday, but was refused bail to have his records checked. It is alleged that on September 15, on two occasions, Bissessar engaged in conversations via telephone and social media with a child for the intent of sexual grooming. The charge was laid indictably by PC Corey Williams under the Children’s Act 2012. Bissessar was not called upon to enter a plea.
Yesterday, police court prosecutor Sgt Ken Ali told the court that the accused man had one previous conviction for possession of marijuana.
However, attorney Taradath Singh said he represented Bissessar as well in that matter and it was dismissed. In the first hearing, Singh told the magistrate that his client who worked as a transport provider also suffered injuries as he was assaulted by persons and suffered spinal injuries. Singh also stated said his client had visible bruises and his right middle finger was broken.
The magistrate granted $50,000 to be approved by a Clerk of the Peace. The case was adjourned to October 19.
