NBA coaches here for Digicel Clinic

In its second year, the Digicel Jumpstart Clinic provides an opportunity for aspiring basketballers to showcase their skills, benefit from expert coaching and advice from coaches of the NBA. Seven skilled participants will ultimately experience what life could be like as a professional basketballer with a trip to New York City.

NBA coaches Lloyd Pierce and Troy Justice will be in Trinidad to facilitate the Jumpstart Clinic and choose the seven that will advance to the Academy. After a gruelling pre-selection process facilitated by the coaches of the National Basketball federation (NBFTT ) the 60 youngsters from Trinidad and Tobago were selected to move on to the next phase of the programme.

Coaches from the NBFTT , will also benefit from the expertise and knowledge of the NBA coaches as they too will participate in sessions targeted at honing their basketball skills. These coaches were also presented with their Level One FIBA (International Basketball Federation) certification during the Jumpstart pre-selection phase.

The Digicel Jumpstart pre-selection took place on September 10 and was open to all aspiring basketballers, both male and female between the ages of 14 – 16.
