Grande mom died from blood clot
The two autopsies were carried out at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope.
Yesterday, Lisa Sookram, sister of Shevana, told Newsday that her family would not be pursuing any litigation against the Sangre Grande Hospital because the autopsy indicated death was through no fault of the medics.
She said that the funeral for mother and daughter will take place on Saturday according to Christian rites and mother and baby would be buried together in one grave.
She said it was extremely difficult for the family and now they would have to take care of Shevana’s two-year-old daughter.
The family had planned to name the newborn baby girl Alizen Christy Ramsingh.
On Wednesday, Shevana, an antenatal patient, was visiting the Sangre Grande Hospital, when she began experiencing contractions.
She was warded and during an examination, no heart beat was detected for the baby girl.
The still-born baby was delivered and a short while later, Sookram developed complications which led to her death later that evening.
