The Cubans – along with Curacao -- will also move on to the semi-finals after capturing first place and maintaining their unblemished record with a come-frombehind 2-1 victory over Suriname. Brian Savigne struck for the game-winner with nine minutes remaining in normal time, breaking a 1-1 deadlock with his third goal of the competition.
Remarkably, each of his tallies have been scored after the 80th minute.
Jenairo Eenig put the Surinamese ahead in the 45th minute, but Ronaldo Rosette levelled just before the half-time whistle.
Suriname claimed the Caribbean’s last berth to the CONCACAF event as the better of the two thirdplace teams, edging Group A’s Trinidad and Tobago on goal difference (-1 to -2).
Curacao opened the evening with a 0-0 draw against Guadeloupe (one point), a result that proved to be good enough to keep them in second place.
The semi-finals will be contested today at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, with Haiti squaring off against Curacao in the opener, followed by a meeting between Cuba and Jamaica.
The CONCACAF Under-17 Championship is scheduled to be played in Panama from April 21-May 7, 2017. The field will also include the host nation, Canada, Mexico, the United States and three Central American sides.
