Schoolboy’s body recovered

According to reports, Zephryn was kept at home on Thursday because he had the common cold.

Relatives suggested that he be taken for a sea bath to get rid of the cold and on Thursday, the Wallerfield family journeyed to the Balandra beach with the intention of having a fun-filled day. According to reports, at about 4 pm, while Zephryn was bathing with other relatives, he experienced difficulties and called out to a male relative who attempted to rescue him however, the schoolboy vanished under water.

Frantic attempts were made in searching for him, but when the body was not found relatives alerted the TT Coast Guard and a party of officers from the Mathura Police Station led by Sgt Vikash Ramkissoon went to the scene. Yesterday, the body was viewed by a District Medical Officer who ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre, St James. Weeping relatives said they were at least grateful that the body had washed ashore so that the final rites could be carried out for young Zephryn.
