However, investigations are still ongoing into the deaths of Rajendra Persad, a Guyanese national, and Daniel Alexander, from Maraval, who died when their vehicle crashed into the rear of Seegobin’s black Toyota Hilux.
According to reports, at about 11.45 on Saturday, Seegobin, a 49-year-old contractor of Bonne Aventure Main Road, Gasparillo was driving his vehicle along the northbound lane along the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway. At the same time a white Nissan Frontier, driven by Persad, who is employed at Victoria Medical Laboratories, San Fernando, was travelling in the same direction, but behind the Hilux.
As Seegobin reached near the Chase Village Overpass, Persad’s vehicle slammed into the rear of Seegobin’s Hilux, then flipped several times on the road, before coming to a stop at the median of the highway.
Persad died at the scene, and his passenger Daniel Alexander, died while being transported to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. A breathalyser test was conducted on Seegobin and he was found to be over the legal limit. He was arrested and taken to the Freeport Police Station, where he was charged.
