Autopsy confirms drowning of Brit

According to reports, the 71-year-old architect of Woodstock Road, London was in Mayaro on Sunday morning in the waters off Hajji Khan Avenue with friends and relatives. At about 9am, he encountered difficulties and disappeared in the waters.

Relatives found his body 15 minutes later, and attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Friends of the 71-year-old man described Shekleton as a kind and generous man, who enjoyed life.

Friends complained that there were no safety signs onshore.

Newsday understands his body would be repatriated to London, where a funeral service will be held.
