TT a barbaric Society?

THE EDITOR: While one family has a father who rejoices at the birth of triplets, and he and little Joshua await the arrival home of his much larger family in Penal, a man hacks a woman to death, opening her head with a hatchet. She is the mother of six. What explains the epidemic proportions of wife murder in Trinidad? I never hear of them in Tobago.

When will the State, including both political parties, come to the recognition that these sorts of headlines depict a barbaric society, totally unlike the paradise we profess to be? It was the eve of Eid, Divali  and Christmas — a triple holy season for people of what may seem the most religious and harmonious society on the face of the earth; and a man hacks his wife to death, locks his door and walks down the street wiping his hands as if he had just slaughtered a pig or a chicken in preparation for the festivities. Oh, God!
