Lakers earn ‘Premier’ promotion
SHAMIR REID scored a hat-trick of goals to lift Roxborough Lakers to a 4-1 victory over Sea Level Goal City to wrap-up the Big Six play-off title and earn automatic promotion to the Warner’s Group of Companies-sponsored Tobago Football Association Premier League. Needing to win by at least three clear goals, the Roxborough men went straight into attack and were soon on the scoresheet when Reid got his first.
And he fired in two more for a 3-0 half-time scoreline, before Akido Ferguson pulled one back for Goal City. But an own-goal slammed the door shut on Goal City’s bid for promotion into the “big league.” Goal City still have one more chance for promotion, as they play-off with Premier League bottom teams Bethel United and Georgia FC with the winners of this three-team series making it into the “Premier.” Meanwhile, Castara head the standings in the 11-team Over-35 Division, eight points ahead of nearest challengers 1976 FC Phoenix XS.
