Haiti needs our help once more
While Jamaica was also under a storm watch, it was not hit as badly as Haiti.
I do hope we understand what Haiti is going through - loved ones killed, some missing, farms and lifestock destroyed, and life just suddenly thrown into chaos and confusion.
While we in TT have been lucky to escape the impact of a storm or hurricane, we must reach out for those in Haiti with compassion.
We may be in our own storm with our present economic situation, but so are many others and maybe it is an opportunity for us to practise the principle, “Give and it shall be given unto you.” I do hope that both the Government and the Opposition will take the people of Haiti into consideration, those who were not speared the venom of Matthew, as they debate the Budget in Parliament.
We must give Haitians our support.
The same way we reached out to Venezuela, we must reach out to Haiti and with our hearts and our help.
As citizens we can always keep them in our prayers and if there are any arrangements by NGOs to do something we can in our own small way contribute.
Remember, we are our brother’s keeper and love is more understood when it is demonstrated by doing.
