Browne cops Pan Am keirin bronze

Colombian Fabian Puerta won gold and Argentine Leandro Bottasso copped silver ahead of Browne. Finishing behind Browne were Mexican Roberto Serrano (fourth) and the Canadian pair of Stefan Ritter (fifth) and Joel Archambault (sixth).

Browne advanced past round one after finishing second in his heat behind Puerta, before finishing second in round two (semifinals) behind Archambault to book his place in the final.

Browne’s podium finish in the keirin followed his agonising fourth place finish in the men’s sprint on Saturday. Browne lost in the third-place ride to Colombian Santiago Ramirez, while Puerta won gold and Jair Tjon En Fa of Suriname took silver.

Browne had registered a quick 9.708-second in the flying 200-metre qualifier which is only bettered by the national record.

Brown has had a busy 2016, joining pro track cycling club Pennsylvania Lightning (PL), for the World Cycling League in California, USA, in March earlier this year. He failed to qualify for the recently concluded Rio Olympics but remains in good form on the international circuit.
