Snag in Oslo accord

THE EDITOR: Yasser Arafat died and was buried. Shakespeare stated in Julius Caesar “The evil that men do lives after them, the good is often interred with their bones”. Latching on to this statement numerous hypocrites while giving some praise to President Arafat cast a lot of blame on him especially with respect to the “Oslo Accord”. The charismatic hypocrite Bill Clinton blamed him for its non implementation. His successor George W Bush avoided President Arafat like a fellow leper. As I understand it and this is not disputed, the Oslo/Clinton Accord contained a provision that Palestinians who were herded from their lands into refugee/concentration camps by the Israelis/Jews were denied the right to return to their legitimate homeland, ie, Jerusalem.

Arafat would have been a traitor to his people if he had signed that accord. As one commentator stated “it was on par with a prohibition against Russian, American, German or any other Jews being or denied their rights to return to Israel” (which they considered their homeland). To me it was nauseous and despicable to view on BBC a bunch of Israelis dancing for joy on hearing the news of President Arafat’s demise. I wonder if those Jews would also have danced if we had a modern day Nazi Germany and Fox News broadcast the incineration of their fellow Jews in one of those infamous gas ovens?

No doubt Sharon, the murderous leader of a nation of land thieves also applauded the death of President Arafat. Sharon should bear in mind that President Arafat died a hero, a fighter against tyranny and a Nobel Peace Prize Winner. On the other hand Sharon continues to be a murderous leader, a petty land thief and an unindicted war criminal and will continue to be remembered as such. Also his co-conspirator, George W Bush will continue to be remembered as a liar, barbarous invader, and fellow unindicted war criminal. Let us hear from the Sharon/Bush supporters.
