Coverage a disgrace
I began by looking at Ctv — whose new tagline is “Trinidad and Tobago Television at its best”, no doubt trying to piggyback on TTT , something it will never achieve — only to wonder if this “live” broadcast was originating from some other planet.
Imagine in this the 21st century, CNMG, a State enterprise, covering a public statement by the Head of State, is unable to transmit clear audio for the entire coverage. Even worst, Ctv supplied the feed to other media houses as well.
President’s House is on the northern side of the Queen’s Park Savannah and CNMG is on the southern side, Maraval Road to be exact, and it could not get a clear signal; and taxpayers, who keep CNMG in operation, had to put up with this “national disgrace”.
This is the same CNMG that did not see it fit to put up one national decoration on its building for Independence Day or Republic Day.
It is time the powers that be take a serious look, in these hard times, at State enterprises like CNMG that receive millions of dollars yearly in subventions to fund mediocrity, disgrace and failure.
As a taxpayer I demand some form of accountability from the, I am sure, highly paid individuals at these State enterprises.
