TTEC: We know our duty

The release stated, “Within recent months T&TEC has been receiving an increased number of requests from citizens, community groups and regional corporations to extend the time for recreational ground lighting for an additional two to four hours beyond the normal 9 pm cut-off.

The Commission is fully aware of its obligation to society as it relates to nation building in areas such as crime reduction, promoting healthy lifestyles, building communities, promoting a caring society through socialisation etc and, as such, has always treated such requests with due thoughtfulness.

Requests are typically granted an extension up to 10.30 pm.” The release added that more particularly, with respect to the recent Ramleela celebrations, T&TEC posted personnel on sites during the celebrations to ensure should the lights be required beyond the approved 10.30 pm, an adjustment could be made. This additional extension was required on the last two nights of the event. The release ended by saying the Commission continues to put “additional plans” to serve the public with regards to recreational ground lighting while managing its resources effectively.
