Govt to review Data Act

The ministry said that within recent months it has adopted as policy that the Act must be reviewed holistically so as to harmonise the competing public interests of protection of personal privacy and freedom of expression.

The statement said the Act concerns competing basic rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution, namely the right to privacy (including family life), and freedom of expression (including press freedom).
