Siblings win at San Fest

He outshone ten other competitors in his category.

Big sister Joella, a Standard Five student of St Gabriel’s Girls RC Primary School emerged on the top after she delivered the piece, ‘Hands of Lightning’ on the steelpan.

The audience thunderously applauded the performance at the end. The elated siblings were seen congratulating each other after the results were announced.

Speaking with Newsday, a smiling Joella said that she was proud of her achievement.

“I am so happy. We both worked really hard,” she said. The young musical duo reside with their parents Charmay and Peter Granado at Seukeran Street, San Fernando.

“Joella said that she began preparing for her steelpan piece six weeks ago.

“I did my best in the competition and I was so surprised when they announced that I had won because I thought everyone else performed really good,” the student said.

“She said that her parents are her biggest supporters.

“Jeremy and I work together as a team. We always listen to each other play at home and then we tell each other what could be improved,” she explained. Joella plays the steelpan and piano while Jeremy plays the drums, saxophone and steelpan.
