Golden Grades flashes her speed

GOLDEN GRADES continues to win friends with a sparkling gallop at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday morning. This American-bred two-year-old filly flashed over 1000 metres in 1:02.57 seconds, the best time for the morning over the trip. And Harriram “Pepsi” Gobin’s charge seems set to do herself and owners Champion Stables proud when she turns out on Saturday next week. Also stepping lively yesterday was Golden Honour, who completed the 1000 metres in 1:06.19 and looked very easy in doing her work.

Many trainers decided to do pace work with their horses, but Naturelly Classy stopped the clock in 37.11 seconds for a 600 metres trip, while Jamaican-bred Supremelysatisfied was begging for his head in clocking 41.63 seconds for a similar run. Locally-bred two-year-old Laura Lee In Flight had a good run over 400 metres done in 26.33 seconds. But the star of the morning over this trip was Dereck Joseph’s four-year-old chestnut colt Dauntless Hero. The son of Diligence/Treasure Always literally gobbled up the course to be timed in 25.40 seconds for the outing. And Life In The Sky had a good pipe opener over the 400 metres trip in a handy 26.77 seconds.
