Maloney man shot dead
Dead is Daniel Voisin of Building 19. It was revealed that he, along with other friends were threatened not too long before his death yesterday morning.
Investigators have confirmed that information on the ground is that the Voisin and his colleagues were threatened.
Investigations are still in its initial stages, but Newsday understands that police intend to intensify patrols in the area to ensure the public’s safety.
It was reported that at about 7 am yesterday, moments before he was killed, Voisin he was seen holding a baby. The young man put the baby down before walking outside his apartment on building 19, bareback and in a khaki pants. Just then, loud explosions were heard. When residents checked, they found his body on the floor of the corridor near his apartment. A close relative told reporters yesterday at the scene of the crime that she was walking the baby when she heard the loud gunshots.
“I thought it was firecrackers,” said the relative who wished not to be named. “Next thing I was hearing someone calling me and telling me to come now.” The relative described Voisin as a respectful man, who aspired to greatness in the sport of basketball.
After the birth of his son, she said, Voisin devoted all his time and effort into being a good father. Newsday was told that Voisin had been waiting for a year and a half to hear from the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment, after applying to be a soldier.
Up to press time, no arrest was made and investigations are ongoing.
