NSA calls for an end to vandalism
In a statement to the media yesterday, NSA general secretary, Rajindra Mohan, noted that the party has been informed by its candidates that NSA “posters and banners are being defaced, slashed and pulled down in certain electoral districts in these two Corporations.”
“In addition to this, in the Electoral District of Sangre Grande Northwest, an unsigned letter is being placed in the mail boxes of constituents attacking a political party and its leader with derogatory statements in an attempt to make it look as though the National Solidarity Assembly is doing this. This demonstrates a poor and pathetic attempt at reverse psychology in order to gain votes,” Mohan said.
“The National Solidarity Assembly is calling for an end to this type of gutter and bacchanalia politics, being practiced by the two main incumbent political parties and is calling on both the PNM (People’s National Movement) and UNC (United National Congress) to deal with the issues facing the country rather than with petty divisiveness,” he stated.
The party pointed out that every citizen had a “democratic and constitutional right to engage in the electoral process however they may see fit and to support a party of their own choice.” “This is not PNM country or UNC country, this country belongs to every citizen of Trinidad and Tobago and it is time the leadership of both the PNM and the UNC realise this,” Gopaul added.
