Pride stain Red Force at Oval

Resuming on 57 for three in the second innings chasing a daunting 392 for victory yesterday, the Red Force were skittled out for 99 with only two batsmen reaching double figures. Former West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach and skipper Kevin Stoute both snatched three wickets for Barbados taking 3/33 and 3/14 respectively. Only opener Kyle Hope (26) and Yannic Cariah (25) got into double figures for the hosts. For the second time in the match TT Red Force opener Jeremy Solozano did not bat as he is feeling under the weather.

The TT Red Force now have one win and one loss from their opening two matches after defeating the Windward Islands Volcanoes by nine wickets in Round One at the Queen’s Park Oval.

Following the loss Red Force captain Yannick Ottley said, “A lot of stuff we did not do well in this game. I think credit must be given to Barbados, they outplayed us in a couple of departments so well done to Stoute and his guys.”

Ottley is not concerned about his team’s batting going forward. “(It’s) early days yet we had a good game against the Windward Volcanoes but it did not really click this game here against the Barbados Pride, credit to Stoute and his guys again they really stuck to their bowling methods and they got us.”

Ottley is hoping for a stronger performance in the next game. “We really looking forward to the next game. It is just one and one, one win, one loss, so coming against the Leewards Hurricanes we could hope for a better performance.”

Reflecting on the effort of his team Red Force coach Gus Logie stated, “everybody is disappointed, we expected more from each other, the players know their roles, they know their responsibilities, unfortunately in this game of sports you have these days, ups and downs and we could look for all the excuses in the world and there may be some, but we not going to look for any. We going to regroup, come again, better than we were in these last few days.”

TT will face the Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the next round starting on Friday, a team with one win and one draw. Logie said there is no need to panic as the tournament has jsut begun and the Red Force have had success against the Leewards recently.
