Cramping PM’s style

THE EDITOR: In case you do not know, let me tell you why it is that the prime minister and his entourage scurried to the Penal and Barrackpore area without inviting the relevant parliamentary representatives. Mr Manning knew if he invited MPs Baksh and Bissessar to accompany him, they would take him to the most affected areas in an attempt to highlight the grave drainage problems. However unfortunately for the residents that was not the Prime Minister’s agenda.

Mr Manning’s plan was simply to visit the areas, have the media see him talk to some people, kiss some babies — the usual, without actually doing any real assessment of the problem. In doing so he would have “even off” his appearance so that no one could say that he visited Tobago and not south Trinidad. However Ms Bissessar “cramped his style’ when she intercepted him and made him drive through all the water — poor Mr Manning.
