“If we could follow that single rule, we won’t have crime anywhere,” he said. Maharaj questioned the value systems of those who would have committed the murder.

“Value systems have been lacking from homes. If they were brought up with a certain value system, they would have seen her walking along the street and shown her love and respect. It’s a whole value system, right now we don’t have value for human life. Human life is being lost in a variety of ways in this country,” he said. He called on citizens to bring about collective positive responsibility.

“Let us once again bring value to human life and I’m sure with this, we will bring about something good,” he said.
