Jesus is the reason for Christmas
THE EDITOR: It is with humility that I ask the question, are we as a nation not tired of adopting some of the styles of America? For example, in many states, no mention of Jesus Christ or even God must take place in schools. I refer to the Christmas singing competition organised by the Ministry of Education, that was lured into changing the lyrics of a Christmas song because of ‘‘pressure’’ by various groups. I can see God frowning on this move. How can a song for Christmas exclude the name of Jesus, when He is the reason for the season? Why must there be such uneasiness in various people when mention is made of this name?
I believe that the Ministry and sponsors should ‘‘scrap’’ this competition if the name of Jesus has to be deleted. Be careful of what you are doing. This is only a suggestion. One thing comforts me though, and that is that it is written, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth and things under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God, the Father. (Phillipians 2, verses 10-11).
