Bermuda clinch high-scoring draw with SVG

KINGSTOWN: Bermuda came from two goals down to earn a 3-3 draw with hosts St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in their Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Digicel Cup Group “E”  match at the Arnos Vale Playing Field on Friday. The Vincentians rushed to their lead through goals by Randy Pierre, Renson Haynes and Shandel Samuel.  However goals by Kuano Smith, Maurice Lowe and Damon Ming with a penalty gave Bermudans the draw and a crucial point, which enhances their hopes of advancing to the next round of the competition.

They are now on four points after beating Cayman Islands on Wednesday. The Vincentians who were held to a 1-1 draw by little-rated British Virgin Islands (BVI) in their opening match on Wednesday are on two points, and must beat Cayman today if they are to make it into the next round. Earlier Cayman Islands collected their first points when they edged out a steady but out-played British Virgin Islands (BVI) 1-0 in the first of Friday’s double-header.  The goal, which came in the 49th minute following a goalmouth scramble, was credited to Gary Whittaker. The margin could have been wider were it not for the wasteful tendencies of Whittaker himself, Carsan Fagan and David Reid as well as the tremendous work of BVI goalkeeper, Monty Butler.  The BVI will take on Bermuda in their last mach today. The two top teams in the group will advance.
