Checkers group is national

THE EDITOR: We hereby seek your assistance in addressing a situation inadvertently created by an article in your newspaper. The article to which we refer was published on Friday October 22, 2004. While the said article did a good job of publicising the issues affecting Checkers for which we are extremely grateful, it gave the impression that the issues were confined to Checkers at the Ministry of Works.

In actual fact at the meeting which your newspaper advertised, the National Checkers Action Group was formed. It is the group’s aim to embrace all Checkers in the country; efforts to this end are ongoing. It is hoped that you would use your good office to correct the misconception created by the article to which we refer. Please accept our deepest gratitude for your efforts to publicise our cause, and our sincerest wish for success in the future endeavours of your organisation.
