PNM goes back to 2-day convention model

The PNM’s 39th annual convention this weekend at the Chaguaramas Convention Centre, will see the party returning to the two-day model. Highlight of the convention will be the Political Leader’s  address tomorrow morning at 10.30, and Prime Minister Patrick Manning is expected to speak for one and a half hours. The convention is taking place at a time when the party is preparing for the Tobago House of Assembly election. Sources said Manning’s address would put some focus on Tobago.

At the convention, elections for the majority of positions on the executive will be held. Of the 11 positions up for grabs, only three are being contested. They are Assistant General Secretary, where incumbent Rose Janneire is being challenged by Patsy Ransome; Field Officer, where Government minister Jarrette Narine is facing competition from Foster Cummings, and Youth Officer Male which is being contested by Joel London, Abidon Mason and Satish Ramroop (the incumbent). Voting is due to take place today, while the results will be announced tomorrow.
