Cop’s son hit with 3 charges

The son of a police officer from the Port-of-Spain division yesterday appeared before a Port-of-Spain magistrate on three charges, one of which included robbery. Keston Charles, 19, of First Street San Juan, was held by officers of the Barataria Police Station last Thursday following investigations into a robbery which took place in September. The accused appeared before Magistrate Andrew Stroude in the city’s Fourth Court.

Charles faces one charge of using obscene language and another for resisting arrest. The robbery allegedly took place on September 26, in which another teenager was robbed of a gold watch worth $850 and $150 in cash. After investigations, WPC Tricia Gopiecharan charged Charles for the robbery. The accused, who is on $10,000 bail was represented by attorney Patrick Godson Phillips. The matter was adjourned to December 15.
