Merry Boys go for early wickets

Batting first at the Queen’s Park Oval in St Clair last Saturday, Merry Boys posted a competitive 318 all out in the first innings.

Mario Belcon top scored with an aggressive 98 for the Diego Martin team, while national cricketer Isaiah Rajah (73) and former West Indies batsman Lincoln Roberts (60 not out) also posted half centuries.

Bowling for Queen’s Park Barbadian medium pacer Javon Searles grabbed five for 58.

Also among the wickets were medium pacer Kevon Cooper (2/57) and spinner Yannic Cariah (2/101). Queen’s Park closed day one on 32 without loss in their first innings with captain Justin Guillen and Marlon Barclay.

At the Pierre Road Ground in Charlieville, home team Alescon Comets will look to add soem quick runs to their first innings score.

Comets closed day one on a healthy 341/8 against Powergen.
