Rain pushes senior cricketers indoor

TRINIDAD and Tobago cricketers preparing for the 2005 Carib Beer Series were forced to utilise facilities at the Angostura Indoor Nets at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva, yesterday. The players are expected to report to the SFWDC at 8.30 am today where they will be engaged in physical fitness training supervised by national trainer Gerald Garcia. Later coach David Williams will put them through batting, bowling and catching drills, and they will complete the day with mental and tactical discussions.

The proposed first day’s play of the Second Trial match at Gilbert Park, California, yesterday, was abandoned without a ball being bowled because of persistent heavy showers which left the entire outfield soggy and some of the boundary areas waterlogged. And today’s play scheduled to start at 9.30 am,  has been called off. But officials are hoping for some cricket action tomorrow should ground conditions improve. There will be no play on Sunday because W-Connection Wanderers, the Gilbert Park home team, will be engaged in a limited-overs match to prepare for the 2005 season.
