Malicious? What nonsense

THE EDITOR: I was flabbergasted by remarks by morning talk show host George at 9.50 am on Monday December 6, 2004. He said that all the United National Congress (UNC) Members of Parliament were “malicious.” Yes, he said we, in the Opposition, are all “malicious.” When I heard this, I said to myself, what an ingrate! This ungrateful Grenadian who sought refuge from poverty and degradation in his land coming here to pass judgment on the UNC.

He may feel committed to defend the PNM because he came here as part of  Dr Eric Williams’ vote bank in the 60’s to keep the PNM in power. That is a malicious act. I have news for him. I am not malicious. And I can speak for my colleagues that they too, are not malicious. How did he come to the conclusion that UNC parliamentarians are “malicious”? Was it because the Opposition had been exposing the massive corruption in this PNM administration by PNM ministers and high and low party officials? Or was it because the Opposition had exposed the high-handed action of “some high-ranking PNM Government official” in releasing the Bajan fishermen?  And so much more. The host must explain why he never accused PNM MPs Keith Rowley and Colm Imbert of being “malicious” when they made allegations against UNC ministers without even a shred of evidence.
