Baugh misses century by five runs

KINGSTON: West Indies wicketkeeper/batsman Carlton Baugh, Jr, missed out on a century in the latest Jamaica trial match between sides being led by him and all-rounder Dave Bernard, Jr. Baugh cracked 95 to lead his team to a respectable 281, replying to their opponents’ first innings total of 127, on the second day of the four-day match. When stumps were drawn, Bernard’s side were 126 for six in their second innings, after Shawn Findlay scored 58 and Donovon Pagon gathered 24.

Leg-spin bowler Gavin Wallace has taken three wickets for eight runs. Earlier, Bevon Brown gave Baugh support with 48, but the rest of batting on their side provided little or nothing about which to write home. Spin bowling all-rounder Findlay was the most successful bowler for Bernard’s side with three wickets for 29 runs. The captain, spin bowler Lorenzo Ingram, and fast bowler Daren Powell, all finished with two wickets. The Jamaicans open their Carib Beer Series campaign with a home game on January 7 against the Leeward Islands at Kaiser.
