Decomposing body found in Blanchisseuse

NORTHERN Division police are calling on the public to assist them in identifying a badly decomposed corpse which was found off the Blanchisseuse Main Road around midday yesterday. Police sources said a passer-by spotted the corpse in some bushes off the side of the road after picking up a foul stench in the area. On seeing the body, the passer-by alerted police.

Blanchisseuse and Homicide Bureau police arrived on the scene and cordoned off the area until the District Medical Officer (DMO) arrived on the scene and viewed the body. Because of the advanced state of decomposition, the DMO could not determine if there were signs of foul play. The body was removed to the Port-of-Spain Mortuary. Police sources said they need a proper identification of the body before an autopsy could be carried out at the Forensic Science Centre.
