Anglers make big Marlins Madness catch
There was a massive tally of 79 fishes caught, and among the catch was a whopping 65 yellow-fin tuna, weighing an estimated 2,800 pounds.
Also in yesterday’s haul were 10 sailfish, two wahoo and two dolphins, while all three blue marlins which were snapped up had to be released.
On the first day of action on Wednesday, the anglers produced a modest haul of 39 fishes, including 22 yellow- fin tuna, six sailfish, four wahoo, four dolphins and three blue marlins.
Overall, a total of 18 boats, with 89 anglers, including two female and two junior participants are involved in the four-day competition, which is expected to end tomorrow.
According to the organisers, there are fisherfolk from all over the world at this event, in particular from North America and Europe.
This tournament is being held under the auspices of the Trinidad and Tobago Game Fishing Association.
