Judge hears of accused man’s murder

Johnathon Moonsammy, 35, of Vistabella, was shot dead on Solomon Street and as a result, three accused appeared yesterday before the judge for a Cause List hearing of the matter. Justice Holdip who is adjudicating in a murder in the First Criminal Assize, presided in the Third Assize court where Ayers-Caesar was sitting up to last week Thursday before she resigned.

Appearing before Holdip were Moonsammy’s cousin Kimberly Moonsammy, 34, Keston Franklyn, 45, of La Brea and Colleen Osbourne, 44, of Pleasantville, who are on bail. Attorney Keith Beckles appeared for Kimberly and Franklyn and told Justice Holdip that he was ready to proceed.

Shabaana Shah and Krishna Jaglal represented the prosecution.

The judge heard that one of the accused Johnathon Moonsammy was killed on Saturday. A relative handed State Attorney Jaglal the death certificate. Johnathon along with the others, were committed to stand trial in 2009 by Senior Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan for the kidnapping for ransom of Saada Singh from the Giselle Montessori School in 2005. Two days later, the child was found wandering along a lonely road in Siparia.

On Saturday at about 8 pm, Moonsammy who was from Crawford Street in Vistabella, was liming at Solomon Street, Vistabella when two men shot him dead.
