Killed for refusing to make up
Vasquez, who lived in Piparo, had been romantically involved with Ramdeen for the past 17 years.
However, a month ago she ended the relationship.
Vasquez appeared initially to be handling the separation well.
However, he began visiting Ramdeen every other day begging and pleading with her to reconcile.
On each occasion, she refused, and relatives told Newsday she had said at her age, she was content to mind her grandchildren.
Vasquez, Newsday was told, became depressed when he realised his attempts to woo Ramdeen back were unsuccessful.
On Wednesday, Ana Vialva left her mother (Ramdeen) at home to go pay a bill.
She said her mother went to work at the Forestry Division, and was expected home by 11 am.
Vasquez reportedly picked up Ramdeen at her workplace that day and they both went to her Mayaro home, where it is believed they had a heated argument and he slit her throat.
He died moments later when his car crashed head-on into a Jusamco truck.
Relatives said Ramdeen’s two grandchildren were asleep when she was murdered.
Vasquez was described as being very close to Ramdeen’s children.
He and Ramdeen had no children together, but she had five children and six grandchildren
